Here's The Low Down

Where have you been, Dionne, you ask?

I've been busy, I answer! I have been so busy.

So much has happened since my last blog post.  I started my Creative Connection on Facebook.  This is a closed paid membership where we share, teach and chat about all things paint related. Then, I went to DIY Boot camp for six days and taught my first paint workshop x five! This was so much fun but I haven't worked that hard in a long time.  I came home exhausted but energized, at the same time. Next, Jennifer Allwood interviewed me live on her business Facebook page! Let me add that she has 291k followers and get this...I wasn't too nervous...just a little, but not too much. On top of that, I accepted an invitation to display my art in an exhibit here in Oklahoma City.  I still have two weeks to build up my nerve for this. Last but not least, I sold out of my first local paint workshop that takes place October 5th.

Oh wait!

I also painted these three pieces of furniture and created tutorials and sold those and painted a lot of new art and made a ton of new online friends and did I mention I'm a mom?

It's been so much fun!

Check out these makeovers.

What have you all been up to? Have you painted lately?

Have a great week!!

Antique Armoire DIY Paint Furniture Makeover and a How To Video Tutorial

It's Dionne here!

I have a new favorite makeover and here she is.

I really love her.
She's eclectic but timeless, old but so new.

Let's talk colors for a minute.
If you're interested in learning to paint like this using a step by step tutorial,
click HERE to learn more.

I used multiple colors from the DIY Paint from
Debi's Design Diary to create this layered paint finish.
This display consists of Bohemian Blue, Hey Sailor, Mint Chip, Seaglass, Kissing Booth and Queen Bee. I finished with a clear and black wax.

I have this armoire available to purchase on my website, www.theturquoiseiris.com.

One more thing I HAVE to tell you!!

I finally put together a staging step by step tutorial.  You can purchase this 14 minute video HERE for only $11. In the video, I stage one dresser three different ways and explain how and why I select certain pieces.

Thanks and have  a wonderful evening!

Boho Chic Never Looked So Good - DIY Paint Furniture Makeover

Oh, Summer is here and in full, I'm gonna make you sweat mode!
My goodness...it's hard to even step outside.

I love the summer but more so if the temperature stays
under 90 degrees.
Lucky for me, I can still work in the garage as long as I have a fan blowing right on my face.

 What about you?

Are you a summer fan, winter fan or somewhere in between?

Recently, I had the pleasure of painting this little gem.
You can find the paint I used HERE at DIY Paint
and order my fourteen minute DIY tutorial HERE.

Staging this was fun, too.
I hit Lowe's the day they offered all plants at 50% off.

The paint colors are Cowboy Coral, Bohemian Blue and Queen Bee, all from DIY Paint. I used one of my favorite gift wrap prints from Spoonflower. The Mexican otomi print comes in multiple color variations and I love each and every one.

Also, new to my shop, is my Walking With Iris art series.

This is my newest art collection and a tribute to my grandmother, Iris. This grouping will still be happy and full of color but will represent simplicity. My grandmother, Iris, was radiant in her own simple ways, yet, full of love, smiles and always had fried chicken hot and ready. She was a gift to all that knew her. The Iris flower, like it's name, carries itself with pride, making a simple statement of class, heritage and traditions. It, like my grandmother, always greeted us with open out-stretched arms. • Walking With Iris • is the first original painting in this series and is now available.www.theturquoiseiris.com

Several of these have already sold.

Thank you!

Two Furniture Makeovers Plus My FIRST DIY TUTORIAL is NOW AVAILABLE!

I'm so very excited to announce my very first tutorial is
available to purchase.
It's fourteen minutes, straight to the point
and only $10.
You can find that, HERE.

This first makeover piece here is also the one I painted in my tutorial.  I used DIY Paint, from Debi's Design Diary.

I used Hey Sailor, Letterpress Grey and Mint Chip to get this layered and textured look. I finished with the black wax which is what gave this finish a faded blue jean look.

I love it!!

This hutch is available Here

This next makeover is more of a farmhouse grey driftwood finish.

I used paint from CeCe Caldwell's and mixed Beaufort Blue and Beckley Coal to get this shade of grey and finished with a watered down spray of the Beaufort Blue.
A white wax was the cake topping!

Oh my goodness, you guys!

This summer has been so busy but I'm happy to have a few minutes today to get caught up and share these makeovers with you.

If you need more questions about purchasing my tutorial or if you're interested in my one on one furniture business coaching call, click Here, and click on, Business Coaching for Furniture Painters.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy your Sunday!
